Abraham's father is a cobbler. He makes boots and shoes for all kinds of people except the very poorest, who have to make do with home made clogs or even bundles of rags tied round their feet. The front room of the house is his father's shop, and he works with him a lot of the time now. He and his sister go to Sunday school every week after church, and both can read a bit and sign their name.
